What to Expect

Internships are full time, although working remotely and flexible working may be available for some posts. The duration differs depending on the location and the contract; internships can start at differing periods so take the time to look at the opportunities in different specialities and locations.

Internship positions are available around the world - you can search for oppoartunities in specific locations. UN Internships are are unpaid so consider practical things like the cost of accommodation and travel as all costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses must be covered by the intern - this is where the Charles Colvington Foundation can assist you.

As a global organisation, there are set minimum requirements for you to apply to the UN Internship Programme. To be successful, you must have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter, as well as the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different nationalities, cultural backgrounds and beliefs. You may also need to consider the need for a visa, and some contracts specify types of study or additional languages.

IMPORTANT: The United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, interview meeting, processing, training or any other fees). When applying, check the validity of the site and do not enter your bank details or transfer any funds.
